Time to rifle though the closets again. Maybe call those ex-band mates that still have your Digital Delay pedal or the spare monitor speakers. Maybe splatter some Goof Off on that old 1 x10 cab you never use anymore…The Annual Colorado Music Gear Swap & Tradeshow returns to Cervantes on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 (11AM – 5PM).
This is an all-ages event (under 16 must be accompanied by an adult), and FREE to the general public this year. It’s also boasted as “the largest event of its kind in our region.” Whoa.
But really, you don’t want to miss this. The Colorado Swap Meet is the brainchild of Dutch Seyfarth (of KGNU, Westword, & Jett Heads). It’s one more way to connect music stores, manufacturers and musicians of all ages. It’s also a fund-raiser for KUVO Jazz 89.3 public radio.
With the economy still dragging, Craig’s List has become a virtual dumping ground, so struggling musicians need to be able to connect with others that appreciate their gear, can test it out on the spot, skip all of the shipping issues, the meeting people in shady places stuff, and all of that haggling. Wait a minute…there’ll still be plenty of haggling!
And then there will be some master musician clinics as seen in year’s past. Members of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic showed up last year, as did Gold Record studio engineers, and world-class mandolin players. There’s also lots of gear to sample in a casual environment – think Guitar Center without the inane service clerks.
Do you want to vend at this show? The quickest route is via email: dutch.booking at gmail. Vendors and staff get complimentary lunch provided by Jimmy Johns and some prime exposure. Oh yeah, and free WIFI. And the event is spilling over into Cervante’s Other Side this year for maximum leg room.
See you there?
